Tobias Ellwood is a leading expert and commentator on foreign relations, military strategy, terrorism, defense, British politics, Ukraine, the Middle East, and NATO. Tobias Ellwood's speaking fee: Under $25,000
The Right Honorable Tobias Ellwood has built a career on making a positive difference and challenging the status quo. As a Member of Parliament, he earned a reputation for speaking out, even against his party, when national interests were at stake. Now a sought-after keynote speaker, Ellwood inspires audiences to embrace greater leadership roles in an increasingly complex and uncertain world.
A dual UK/US national, Ellwood was born in New York, where his father worked for the United Nations. He spent his formative years in Germany and Austria, served in the British Army alongside astronaut Tim Peake, worked in the Middle East with John Kerry, and once shared a private cup of tea with President Putin in Baku! His adventurous spirit has taken him skydiving in Cyprus, skiing in Lebanon, and building (and surviving) an igloo near the North Pole with Nick Clegg.
Coming from a family of educators, Ellwood values cognitive education — learning how to think rather than what to think. By nature, he is an interventionist, stepping forward to create meaningful change wherever it is needed.
Twice in his life, Ellwood has faced terrorism head-on: losing his brother in the 2002 Bali Bombings and intervening during the 2017 Westminster Bridge attacks. These deeply personal experiences have profoundly shaped his outlook, fueling his commitment to public service and his determination to make a lasting impact.
From Tony Blair to Boris Johnson, George Bush to Joe Biden, foreign policy is helping shape the world and has fundamentally changed over the last three decades — and not all for the better. Tobias Ellwood offers an amusing and thought-provoking gallop over the roles that the USA and UK have played on the international stage – covering Iraq, Afghanistan, Brexit, the Middle East, China, and Ukraine.
Europe’s at war again, although it’s not really about Ukraine, but about Russia returning to type. Attacking to defend, Ivan the Terrible went east, Peter the Great went north, Catherine the Great went south, and Stalin went west. Putin, now the most powerful person in Europe, is emulating his hero Stalin and has plans to change Europe as the West continues to remain in denial.
As our world becomes more dangerous not less — Tobias Ellwood outlines where our current trajectory of events is taking us as a new axis of authoritarianism (China, Russia, and Iran) take even greater advantage of the West’s increasing timidity in defending our fragile Global Order. He explains the options open to us in how we avoid the inevitable slide to war unless we wake up to how fast our world is changing.
Having travelled with the King abroad and worked with both Prince William and Prince Harry in supporting veterans’ charities and the Invictus Games, Tobias Ellwood shares some interesting insights into the Royal Family, its relationship with the British people, and how a nation has transitioned from a much-loved Queen to a well-respected King.
