Amber Atherton is the Head of Strategic Communities at Discord. A serial entrepreneur, Atherton joined Discord through the acquisition of her community software startup Zyper in January 2021.

Atherton was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list in 2016, and was listed as the “5th-Most Powerful Person in Digital Fashion” by British Vogue. An expert on forging grass-roots communities and forecasting social trends, Atherton regularly appears on TV and at global conferences.

Atherton began modeling as a teenager, appearing in Love magazine, i-D magazine and Tatler. She coded as a child building various online ventures from e-cards to a visual recognition app to the popular jewelry e-commerce marketplace My Flash Trash when she was just 17. After exiting My Flash Trash via a merger in 2016, Atherton founded Zyper and was accepted into Y Combinator’s Winter 2018 Batch.

Widely known for co-creating and appearing in the British reality TV show Made in Chelsea, she has since focused on enterprise, appearing as a Business Buddy on the BBC’s Young Dragon’s Den show, Pocket Money Pitch and judging the UK’s national enterprise challenge. Atherton is now based full time in San Francisco.
