Ambassador Susan Schwab served as U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) from 2006-2009. As a member of the President’s cabinet, public policy scholar and global strategic corporate executive, Schwab is considered a foremost expert on global trade relations. Her efforts as the USTR include work to dramatically increase free trade agreements, resolve trade disputes and enforce existing agreements. During her tenure as USTR, she launched the initial TransPacific Partnership (TPP) negotiations and engaged in the Doha Round talks at the WTO.  She was also involved in negotiations with Russia, Saudi Arabia, Ukraine and Vietnam during their efforts to join the organization. At a time when U.S. trade policies are likely to undergo change that will have global implications, there is not an industry, company or association not touched by trade policy. In light of the topic’s importance, Schwab shares with audiences her unique views on trade including perspective on key policies and competing political interests.
