Osborne, who upon leaving office as Chancellor of the Exchequer in 2016 had the strongest growth record in the G7 and the employment rate was at an all-time high, is now a partner at the prestigious RobeyWarshaw LLP, a boutique M&A advisory firm in London. Osborne is also Chair of the Trustees of the British Museum, one of the world’s most famous museums. Additionally, Osborne serves as a visiting Lecturer at the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California.
Appointed to serve as Chancellor of the Exchequer in 2010 as the United Kingdom was facing economic crisis, George Osborne cut government spending, cut business taxes and reduced regulation, leading to the dramatic improvement of the British economy. In addition, Osborne oversaw major reforms, including the forging of a new relationship with China, the regeneration of the north of England through the “Northern Powerhouse” and an overhaul of the UK pension and welfare systems. After being appointed to his second term, Osborne was given the additional title of First Secretary of State from 2015 to 2016.
A leading figure of the Conservative Party, in 2001 he was the youngest Conservative MP elected to the House of Commons. As a member of Parliament, he championed the social change and progress that led to a period of strong economic growth in Britain.
