Former congressman and finance authority Jeb Hensarling wants to charge the economic engine to solve America’s biggest economic challenges and position our country for growth.

Upon his election to Texas’s 5th District in 2003, Hensarling began concentrating on what he feels are the broken financial systems of the U.S. – shepherding more than 80 bills into law. Included in his track record are the most important pro-growth banking bill in a generation and legislation that helps startups and early growth companies access capital.

Throughout his time in Congress, Hensarling was appointed to prestigious and important committees, including as House Republican Conference Chairman in the 112th Congress and three terms as Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee – giving him jurisdiction of a broad swath of the nation’s economy. His work inspired the National Journal to label him, “as politically savvy as they come.”

Hensarling’s legislation in Congress falls in line with his personal beliefs that a conservative free-market ideology is the best course of action for stimulating the economy. “We can’t have economic growth if we have public policy that essentially vilifies success and puts an incredible regulatory burden upon our entrepreneurs and small businesses,” he says.

Throughout his career, Hensarling explored varied roles in both business and politics. He first served as an officer of Maverick Capital, a well-known hedge fund, where he led marketing and investor relations. Later, he served as vice president of communications for Green Mountain Energy, one of the nation’s leading renewable energy companies. Hensarling also spent several years practicing both corporate and real estate law with a major San Antonio law firm.

Now retired from Congress, Hensarling dedicates himself to informing audiences on what he views as the hidden danger that every American will face in the near future – our rapidly mounting debt. He leans on his expertise in finance law, trade, and banking to explore alternate solutions that do not involve the U.S. digging a bigger hole.

“I personally view it as the most foreseeable threat in American history,” Hensarling says. “It’s like a slow-moving tsunami that’s coming offshore that you can clearly see.”

As a powerful and principled politician, Hensarling is uniquely positioned to explore the modern political scene and how it can affect change in Washington. He details the ins and outs of creating and enacting a specific agenda, and how to work both sides of the aisle in an increasingly fractured government.

Hensarling’s experience across politics and business, coupled with his expertise in financial services, provides an inimitable perspective that educates audiences on the current state of the U.S. economic policy and the road ahead.
