Since early childhood, animals have played a significant role in Coyote Peterson’s life. As he passed through high school and into college, Coyote discovered his second passion in his love for television and film, leading him to earn a degree in video production, writing, and editing from Ohio State University. His deep admiration for wildlife and his newly found passion for filmmaking inspired him to combine the two mediums.
Today, Coyote is proud to be an Emmy Award-winning host on YouTube’s Brave Wilderness, where his videos have been viewed over 6 billion times worldwide, making the channel the largest wildlife brand in the digital space. Coyote has spent the past decade getting up close with animals to uncover the true stories behind some of our planet’s most misunderstood creatures. His passion for wildlife is driven by a desire to educate audiences of all ages about animals and to foster a future that conserves environments and their species.
Coyote has spent over a decade in the field producing wildlife content, affording him the opportunity to work with leading conservationists who are making a positive impact on our planet’s ecosystems. Utilizing the reach of Brave Wilderness, Coyote has supported many of these organizations by raising awareness of their efforts while encouraging his audience to financially support their impactful initiatives. To date, Coyote’s largest conservation collaboration took place in South Africa, where the expansion of rewilded habitat allowed for the introduction of 25 critically endangered black rhinos. Along with a heavily funded anti-poaching unit, this effort aims to ensure a breeding population of these vanishing giants is preserved for generations to come.
Above all, Coyote Peterson is driven by a profound love for nature and a commitment to protecting its most vulnerable inhabitants. Through his compelling storytelling and unwavering dedication, he inspires future generations to explore, respect, and conserve the wild world around them.
As children, most of us have an extreme sense of curiosity and wonder about the world around us. But as we settle into the everyday grind of adulthood, this curiosity can be difficult to maintain. Coyote was fortunate that embracing his childhood curiosity about animals and nature allowed him to build a career in animal presentation. But that doesn’t mean he’s immune to the daily grind, where those tough moments make that wonderful curiosity harder to find. In this talk, Coyote will discuss how he taps into that childhood wonder, uses it to propel him through tough times, and how rediscovering that curiosity can ignite a sense of exploration useful in all areas of life.
In any line of work, you’re bound to come across substantial obstacles, challenges, or roadblocks that can present themselves from the start or may manifest as you progress. In his years of filming wildlife across the globe, Coyote has come across plenty of challenging situations that seemed insurmountable. In this speech, Coyote shares key stories about his difficulties dealing with the unpredictable nature of working with wildlife, from filming an erratic wolverine in Alaska to tracking an elusive Komodo dragon in Indonesia. When meticulous plans are cast aside upon confronting the difficult realities on location, resilience, perseverance, and adaptability proved to be critical qualities for turning potentially disastrous situations into success.
Many of us dream big. We aspire to do great things while often facing a seemingly impenetrable ecosystem of established power and tradition. As an aspiring filmmaker, Coyote identified his unique blend of talents and, along with a dedicated group of friends, leveraged his vision to success in an age of rapidly advancing technology and digital distribution. In this speech, Coyote provides insightful anecdotes for “breaking in” and how teamwork, vigilance, and reinvention are keys to crafting and sustaining a successful career in difficult and changing industries.
