Sallie Krawcheck has had a front-row seat to some of the biggest shifts in business and finance of the past three decades: the transformation of Wall Street, the global financial crisis, the rise of fintech, the growing economic power of women, and now artificial intelligence, which is rewriting the rules of business once again. Often, she has been in the arena helping drive them.
One of the few executives to have succeeded both at the highest levels of global financial services and as a venture-backed entrepreneur, Krawcheck has run some of Wall Street’s best-known businesses, including Merrill Lynch, Smith Barney and Sanford Bernstein. She also served as CFO of Citigroup.
Then she started over.
Krawcheck left the world of large financial institutions to found Ellevest, built on the insight that much of the financial industry was failing to serve women well. She grew the company from an idea into a distinctive financial-services brand with $2.4 billion in assets under management.
