In addition to anchoring and co-anchoring the PBS NewsHour, The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer and The MacNeil/Lehrer Report, Lehrer has moderated—in formats including podium, round-table and town hall—12 presidential and vice-presidential debates including the first Obama-Romney 2012 Presidential debate which focused on domestic policy. He has interviewed seven U.S. Presidents and received many of the most prestigious awards in journalism including two Emmys, a George Foster Peabody Broadcast Award and the National Humanities Medal. In addition to his best-selling book, Tension City: Inside the Presidential Debates, from Kennedy-Nixon to Obama-McCain (September, 2011), a lively and revealing book that pulls back the curtain on more than 40 years of televised political debate in America, Lehrer is the author of numerous fiction and non-fiction books, two memoirs and three plays. Lehrer moderates the NewsHour’s Friday political analysis roundtable segment providing his viewers the basic fact-based journalism he has become known for throughout the years. He sits down with audiences in a conversation-style format that allows an intimate and in-depth discussion on topics that range from a behind-the-scenes look at current events to the 21st -century information revolution.  His favorite interaction is with the audience and he looks forward to taking their questions on the issues of importance to them.
