Lately, we have been reading about the “future of” everything – from work to education, from information to healthcare and everything in between. How is one to know what to pay attention to, which information is trustworthy, and more importantly, what to do with it?

What should we be studying and learning if more than 65% of the jobs that will be available in 10 – 15 years don’t exist today? How should we be thinking about our companies’ strategies if we aren’t sure how quickly technology – or which technologies – will enable growth or impede it?

This dynamic talk, given from the perspective of living on the frontier of the future of work shows executives, politicians, educators, and students the tools they need to prepare and thrive in the future that is already now.

Learn what Blockchain is, in language that normal human beings can understand. Learn the technology and why it will matter across a broad swath of industries, including Finance, Healthcare, and Education.

Explore how harnessing the potential of the unknown will create success, fulfillment and freedom in the uncertainty of our world and economy through the lens of a pioneer who lived it first-hand, and is now creating solutions for the future of work. Learn the three tools you will need to empower your own and others’ success as the fourth industrial revolution continues to unfold.

Why there need to be more: The blockchain industry is currently comprised of 97% men, which brings with it the traditional challenges of male and female equality in the world. However, when this imbalance is paired with the potential of blockchain to be the mechanism of wealth distribution of the future, this raises questions of disparity of access to income and power at levels that are exponential. Additionally, the way that artificial intelligence and machine intelligence learn is through the (biased) perspectives that the rules of its coders give it. How might we get more women involved in the coding and building of these technologies to ensure a world with equal opportunity for all, as the future unfolds.

Adopting three key life strategies led to living life again after suffering the amputation of her left leg in the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013. Hear Heather Abbott’s story of resilience following that tragic event—and learn how you can apply her life strategies to your daily living. You can “Live. Your. Life.” again, whatever your circumstances.

We expect our health care providers to be skilled, experienced professionals who know how to nurse our wounds and treat our illnesses. But what about the less-talked-about side of medical care—the “softer side” of health care? Hear Heather Abbott’s story of recovery and the major impact individual providers can have on a patient’s recovery, especially those who have suffered traumatic injury. Sometimes the road to recovery is marked by more than just medicine.

Major League pitcher Jim Abbott was born with only one hand, but he adapted, overcame adversity and found excellence in his 10-year professional pitching career. Abbott knows that to continue to move towards our goals we must be willing to adapt, to change, and to mold ourselves in order to meet the obstacles in our own way. Using ADAPT as an acronym, Abbott strings together a powerful set of words that provide five incredible strategies to help audiences reach their fullest potential.
A - Adjustability
D - Determination
A - Accountability
P - Perseverance
T - Trust

Confidence, trust and job satisfaction are at historic lows.  When the economic collapse began, the world’s largest banks called in Shawn Achor to research how to restore confidence and forward progress.  While many managers succumb to helplessness, with their teams and clients quickly following suit, Shawn researched those who maintained high levels of success and leadership during the challenge. He found that our brains create confidence based on the belief that our behavior matters to the outcome we desire.  To develop this trust, we must create "wins" for our brain necessary to overcome learned helplessness and must train our brains for rational optimism. Based on the science of positive psychology and case studies of working with companies in the midst of an economic collapse, Shawn provides practical applications for raising the belief that individual behavior matters and helping leaders to keep teams motivated and engaged.

Common sense is not common action.  This is because information does not necessarily cause transformation because we require a certain level of "activation energy" to start a change. Shawn's research in the field of positive psychology has revealed how changes in our own brain due to mindset and behavior can have a ripple effect to a team and an entire organization.  This positive ripple effect can create a more productive, positive work culture making positive change easier. Audiences will learn about the latest scientific research on mirror neurons and mental priming to explain how positivity and negativity spread, case studies on how to become a lightning rod for change, and findings on how a positive ripple effect profoundly affects an organization's ability to transition and change.

Jarrett M. Adams was wrongfully convicted of sexual assault at age 17 and sentenced to 28 years in a maximum security prison. After serving nearly 10 years and filing multiple appeals, Jarrett was exonerated with the assistance of the Wisconsin Innocence Project. Going from inmate to exoneree to law student to attorney with the Innocence Project, Jarrett has a unique perspective to share on over coming adversity and criminal justice reform. A thought-leader in those areas, Jarrett continuously contributes to the ongoing discussion around prison reform and wrongful conviction. His story of incarceration, exoneration and redemption has been featured widely in the media, and he has become a sought-after motivational speaker for athletes, students, inmates, attorneys and others.
